Note: For some trucks, the new cable will be shorter than the old one. Ford has updated the design and the short cable replaces the longer cable. You will need to reroute the cable In through the hole that was taped off at the factory.

Installing a new genuine Ford front door latch release cable on a 2015-2019 Ford F-150 can be done with just a few basic tools. Here are the steps to follow:

1. Begin by removing the inner door trim panel from the affected door. Use a trim panel removal tool to gently pry away the clips that hold the panel in place. Be careful not to damage the clips or the panel itself.

2. Once the trim panel is removed, locate the old door latch release cable. It will be connected to the latch mechanism on one end and the interior door handle on the other. Use pliers to disconnect the cable from both ends.

3. With the old cable removed, install the new genuine Ford front door latch release cable. Connect one end to the latch mechanism and the other to the interior door handle. Use pliers to secure the cable in place.

4. Reinstall the inner door trim panel by aligning the clips and gently pressing the panel into place. Use a flat-head screwdriver to secure any screws or bolts that hold the panel in place.

5. Test the door latch release cable to ensure it is working properly. If everything is in order, you're done!
